Remember, remember Saturday the 5th November when Andrew Smith and Son offer a specialist Asian Auction. There will be over 220 lots in the sale, and these will include Art and Artefacts from China, Japan, Korea, The Himalayas and India. Amongst the highlights, a pair of large mixed metal vases from the serene moments of Miyao during Meiji, are notable. Chinese Ceramics and textiles are both in evidence, as are Japanese Swords and Fittings, Chinese Export Porcelain and Chinese snuff bottles. Other areas of Asia, such as the Sri Lankan painting by Senaka Senayake, the textiles from The Kingdom of Bhutan, and the Pengosekan style painting from Bali, are also to be offered, giving the auction a rounded and inclusive theme. Of peculiar rarity is the famille rose dish, advertising the name of George Harding, a trader in the Minories of London, presumably an importer of Chinese Export. How scarce is that?
